Engine (Power)
The standard engine of the SuperDuty is a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 385 hp and a class-leading 430 lb-ft of torque. For more power, you can opt for the newly upgraded, diesel-powered 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 that makes 450 hp and a second-best-in-class 925 lb-ft of torque. These two engines team with a trusty six-speed automatic transmission. The SuperDuty is the mightiest hauler among heavy-duty trucks with class-topping towing and hauling capabilities. It can tow up to 32,500 pounds and haul up to 7,630 pounds. Despite its exceptional power, the truck has an average fuel economy rating. On the highway, the F-250 achieves 17 mpg, while the F-450 gets 16 mpg.
Performance
The SuperDuty is surprisingly athletic for its size, with handling and control that were once inconceivable for such a big and powerful vehicle. It also delivers mind-blowing acceleration, making zero to 60 mph in just 6.7 seconds. If you plan to use the truck for daily commuting and light towing or hauling, the F-250 is the best option because of its softer suspension. An adaptive steering system is available on the XLT onwards and standard on the Platinum. This system provides better directional control and feedback, allowing you to maneuver the truck more easily in tight spaces.
Interior
The 2018 SuperDuty features a refined, practical, and ergonomically-sound cabin. Its supportive seats offer ample headroom and legroom, especially in the crew cab version. Starting from the Lariat, the truck is fitted with power-adjustable equipment, leather appointments, and upgraded tech features. If you move up to the Platinum, you'll unlock features that no other heavy-duty truck offers, such as massaging chairs. An 8-inch touch-screen SYNC 3 infotainment system is optional in the XL and XLT and standard in the Lariat and above.
Safety Features
The 2017 Ford SuperDuty received a five-star rating for overall crash safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2018 version has more safety features than most of its competitors. It comes standard with air bags and a rearview camera and offers optional features such as automatic emergency braking, forward-collision alert, automatic high-beams, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, rear cross-traffic monitor, and rear parking sensors.
